DAY 9 ELEPHANT ISLAND, ANTARCTICA

Well we did get up at 5:45 and went to the buffet for a cup of coffee before we went to Linda and Dick's cabin which is an aft cabin with a very big balcony. They had ordered coffee, hot cocoa, & other things to go with the coffee. They were marvelous hosts. When we got to their cabin you couldn't even see the water below. You were lucky if you could see your hand in front of your face. We all sat around waiting for the fog to lift and when it did we were so excited. We ran onto the balcony and started snapping as many photos as we could because it was so cold and windy it was moving the deck chairs all over the place. We were lucky to get anything as the fog returned pretty fast and the seas were really rough.

At lunch time the captain made an announcement that the seas were going to continue to be high and the weather was going to deteriorate as the day progressed.

At dinner time we got another announcement that there were 3 fronts coming towards us and if continued on course we woud have 60 mile an hour winds (instead of the 40 we had) and 40 foot swells (instead f the 12-15 we were having) so to play it safe we were leaving Antarctica and going to our next port of call which would be Ushauia (not sure how to spelll it) and would get there a day early so now we will be there overnight. Although we are disappointed it's much better to be safe. There are a lot of unhappy people onboard right now.

The show was a stinker again. This is the cruise thart I can remember with such bad entertainment. As a matter of fact the cruise director taked about tomorrow nights show and we have decided not even to waste our time.

Enid and I have been doing quite well in the casino. I can play with their money for the rest of the cruise and still be a winner.
