DAY 7---PORT STANLEY, FALKLANDS
Our day started at 5:45 AM and we scampered about too get everything we needed to help us to stay warm. Had breakfast in the buffet and went to the theater for early disembarkation as we had priority tickets to get off. Our driver was waiting for us at the pier and into his 4 wheel drive we went. We were traveling 40 miles to Volunteer Point and since there are basically no roads we felt like we were riding bronco bulls. After that ride I truly believe I could handle one. We were tossed around like clothes in a washing machine. I think when I get dressed tonight my boobs are going t swish from side to side instead of up and down. I can't believe I don't have a black eye. The 40 mile ride took 2 1/2 hours each way so I hope you can imagine how we were thrown about. You have to travel in a caravan in case one of the vehicles gets stuck which happened on the way back to the ship. On one of the vans the front 2 tires went deep into a hole and had to be pullled out.
Back to our great day. We saw gentoo penguins and king penguins by the thousands--well maybe a few hundred. You are allowed to walk among them and it was a super day we had. The weather cooperated and everyone said they very rarely have days like this. We didn't even need our jackets which was the biggest surprise of all.
Had dinner and went to the show but we sat in the back because the entertainer was Jennifer Fair and the paper said she was an opera singer so we weren't expecting much. She didn't only sing opera so the show was better than expected.
It looks like my winning streak has come to an end---at least for last night. I'm still playing with their money so it's fine. My computer is getting worse so until it gooes completely I will try and keep up with the blog
Glad the bull ride was worth it to see the penguins! Can't wait to see photos when you get back!
